Liam Turns 2!!! and I'm.......not pregnant!!!!!

Liam turned 2 on Sunday.  We were going to have cake and ice-cream and invite people to come by but due to the winter storm, and being snowed in, no one was able to make it over...except Charlene and Deidra because Daniel has an awesome 4x4 truck he brought them over in!!!  And really, all you need for a good party is Charlene - so we were good to go and went ahead with it.

So at 2, Liam:
  • is a man of few words.  He says "mommy", "no", and "ball".  We still can't get him to say "daddy" or even "Bob" and it drives his daddy crazy!!!
  • he is very somber and serious most of the time.  It takes a lot to get him to laugh and smile.
  • he LOVES cars, trains, and trucks.
  • his favorite movie is Toy Story 3.
  • is best friend is his sister, Charlie.
  • he loves to climb and has been found in various places such as the top of his closet, the piano, the book-shelf, ect.
  • he loves to play with the iphone and has gotten quite good at navigating his way around on it.
  • he is definitely a "mommy's boy" to the extreme but sometimes, he'll decide he likes his dad too.

  • he loves playing with balls, and going for walks, and playing at the park.
  • he looks just like his daddy.
  • he has the BEST facial expressions, and he is always glaring at people, and giving the strangest looks.
  • he loves carrying a blankie with him, but isn't attached to any one in particular.
  • he still cries to come into bed with mommy almost every night and mommy always lets him.

Christmas Chaos and January blues

That's right people, I decided to blog again.  And I'll tell you why.  I need to be writing more.  I miss it.  I had a blog but changed my email addy and forgot the password so I can't access it anymore.  So I keep meaning to start over but I always find way more entertaining things to do that are a lot less constructive.  But at 4:30 in the morning, watching Treehouse, I can hear the blog world calling me and I am responding!  Finally!

So here's a review of the last year.

Liam turned one in January.  He is the cutest little boy.  He looks just like his daddy.  He is a very serious little guy; he always look very somber and sullen.  But his sister can make him laugh and laugh and laugh.
He hasn't really started talking yet.  He can say "mommy" and well, "mommy" - oh right, and "ball".  That's it.  He refuses to say "daddy" or even "Bob" but insists on calling him "mommy" too.  It drives Bob nuts!!

Charlie turned three in April.  She started pre-school and was terrified.  She woke up the morning before school crying that she had had a bad dream.  When I asked her what it was about, she said I had made her go to school.  But after seeing the school and meeting Miss Jackie and Miss Anna, she was eager to go.  After the first week, she said she was never going back.  After days of trying to get her to tell me why she suddenly didn't like it, she confessed, "Miss Jackie and Miss Anna are going to glue my bum to the ground".  It took a lot of talking and ultimately a visit with her teacher to convince her that her teachers were just playing pretend and needed her to sit still.  Something I've never seen her do.
Charlie is full of life and energy.  She is always busy and always needs a friend to play with.  She's pretty sure Liam is her personal toy.  She drives me absolutely nuts with her constant arguing but I love her more than anything in the world.

Bob and I dedicated this past year to getting in shape.  Bob lost 40 lbs in like a month and is now under his ideal weight.  I still have a ways to go but lost 100 lbs between January and July.  Bob and I trained for and completed our first 10k race in the summer and 1/2 marathon in the fall.  It was the most fun I have ever had.  It was amazing.  I also started teaching the half-marathon clinic at The Running Room.
Work wise, Bob was laid off for the first half of the year and began working for Chando's Construction in the Spring.  He is now facing another layoff.  Sigh.

Moving on.  We spent the summer camping, swimming and going to parades.  Every parade we could find.  Oh and Calaway Park.  We went there a lot!!!
Charlie absolutely hated the waiting in lines for the rides.  But loved the rides themselves.  Liam was funny.  He wanted to go on the rides, but when he was on them he'd just cling to us for dear life and then want to go again.  He would get so upset if Charlie got to go on a ride without him.

Well, that's it.  Here's to a year full of WAY MORE INTERESTING blogs.  And to a year of happiness, change and lots of laughs and love!
